The conversion and the burning last less than an hour, a fairly satisfactory speed for this kind of operation.Ĭustomizing the DVDs you create is also possible, as you can merge files, handle subtitle files (both internal and external) create chapters with markers and preview windows. Moreover, you don’t necessarily have to burn the DVD after conversion you can save the DVD structure on your computer or transform it into an ISO image. This application is suitable for NTSC and PAL video formats, too, in order to rule out any compatibility problem, and it creates chapter automatically.īoth DVDs and Blu-ray discs are supported for input and output and the program also accepts inputs from cards, TV, satellite and digital video cameras. Various audio formats (MP3, WMA, OGG, PCM, DTS and AC3) do not represent a problem for ConvertXtoDVD either. Find version 2.2.Except for AVI, ConvertXtoDVD supports other common formats, too, such as MOV, Xvid, DivX, MP4, VOB, MPEG, MPEG4, MP4 and WMV, without needing additional codecs. It's one of the few DVD creator apps I've found that can actually produce a 16x9 aspect ratio DVD that will play properly on a stand-alone DVD player. On a fairly new 64-bit iMac running Mountain Lion, the app just plain crashes when I try to add a second video file to the menu.īeing built for multiple hardware platforms, the user interface tends to be pretty non-Mac-like, but one can eventually get used to it. In an old 32-bit iMac running Snow Leopard, the app goes through its paces, and fails when it tries to write its. I tried running this app on two very different Macs. It was released in the spring of 2012, and it DOES work.) (If you want to try this app out, look for version 2.2. And guess what, the Mac version doesn't work. The Windows version of DVDStyler 2.3.5 came out about four weeks ago and it took until now for him to release a Mac version. The developer of this app has a very spotty record of building a version that works properly under OS X. Version 2.6 is no worse than version 2.2, and has a few more features. Version 2.2 of this application, the last "stable" version that worked at all for me, was really showing its age when run on my 2011 iMac under Mavericks. If you don't "baby" this application, it may freeze up during processing.ĭon't move its windows around or you'll be sorry. Can produce a decent picture quality single-layer DVD with 3-hours of content. I have yet to find a DVD Creator at the Mac App Store that is able to do this simple task. Can produce a 16x9 aspect ratio DVD whose menus display properly when played on a TV-connected DVD player.

Third comes Spike-o-Pult, which lowers the tower’s attack speed but gives changes its projectile into spiked balls capable of piercing up to 40 bloons. Next is enhanced Eyesight, increasing its range and adding camo detection. Its left upgrade path starts with Long Range Darts, improving the tower’s range. While it’s not much to look at, this tower is strong enough to serve as the core of a good defense. It throws darts that fly forward, popping one bloon per hit. The Dart Monkey is the most basic tower in the game. These sneaky floaters can spell a quick defeat, so don’t slack on getting detection up. They will be ignored by any tower that doesn’t have camo detection. In addition, bloons can be upgraded with camo and regen upgrades.Ĭamo bloons have a camouflage decal on them. The one saving factor here is that the ZOMG is even slower than the BFB. Its armor is horrifically tough, and when popped, it explodes into 4 BFBs. You’ll need dedicated anti-MOAB class towers to even scratch this indomitable sky fortress. That doesn’t mean you can ignore it – you’re going to have to hit this monster with everything you’ve got.įinally, the ZOMG (Zeppelin of Mighty Gargantuaness) surpasses even the BFB in terms of durability and strength. To compensate for this, the BFB’s move speed is horrendously slow. Not only does its armor take a lot of firepower to break, but it explodes into 4 MOABs. This bloon, with its threatening red color and angry eyes, is highly dangerous. The BFB (Brutal Flying Behemoth) is another MOAB class bloon. However, MOABs take extra damage from specific towers that are specifically designed to counter them. Letting a MOAB through usually spells instant defeat. These boss-type bloons are like Ceramic bloons in that they have to be hit multiple times to break their armor, after which they’ll explode into 4 Ceramics. MOAB (Massive Ornary Air Blimp) class bloons are more like zeppelins in shape. Each of these towers have their own specialties, abilities, and weaknesses. These towers can be placed on the area around your roads, where they’ll automatically attack enemies that come into range. The first player who runs out of lives loses. Both of you will be protecting your own lanes from bloons while trying to disrupt each other by sending bloons of your own to their screen. Here’s where Bloons TD Battles changes things up – you’ll not only be playing against the AI bloons, but also go head-to-head with another player. To stop them, you’ll build towers, cast spells, and other stuff. In tower defense games, your goal is to defeat enemies before they reach the end of their path. Bloons TD Battles Basicsīloons TD Battles plays similar to other tower defense games. We’ve compiled this Bloons TD Battles beginner’s guide, that comes with some tips and tricks to help cushion your fall and hopefully improve your chances of winning. Unfortunately for new players, the game assumes you’ve already played Bloons TD 5 before this, meaning that without prior experience, you’ll be going in blind. Based on Bloons TD 5, this game has a huge following and there are always opponents eager for a match. This particular iteration of the game, however, pits players in head-to-head combat. Bloons TD Battles is a game with a lot of depth and complexity, and has huge replay value. I stopped at Dark Hollow Falls (Mile 50.7, one of the only trails actually called out from the road insofar as I could tell) which is 1.4 miles and listed to take over an hour as well. If you're not paying attention, you very much could miss many of them.įor shorter hikes, Stony Man (Mile 41.7, mentioned above) is a good 1.6-mile trail that is said to take about an hour. There were many times where I drove past parking areas for trailheads that had zero road signs, weren't clearly listed on the national park map, and it wasn't until I parked my car and read the local map that I learned more about the trail outright.įor several stops, these trails were 6+ miles and listed as half-day affairs- time I sadly did not have on my hands so I had to return to my car to try out the next one.Īs such, if you are looking to hike while on Skyline Drive you'll do well to have planned them out before you depart for the day if only to know exactly what mile marker you should be looking for to find the parking area. While I absolutely love how Skyline Drive has all of its lookouts prominently labeled along the road as you approach them, I did not think the same for its hiking trails. Naturally, you'll also do well to fill up your gas tank completely before entering the park as you'll go through it quickly when exploring here. So without doing much else but quick photo breaks at lookouts, the first exit may take two hours to reach, the second exit three to four hours, and the entire distance five hours or more- and that is just one way! Those exploring longer stretches of the park may have a 140-mile or 200+ mile drive on their hands in a single day if returning back to where you started.Ĭonsidering the park's speed limit is 35 mph and there are lookouts about every half-mile, it is best to plan for an average speed of about 20 mph when accounting for brief stops at the lookouts at a starting point. As such, visitors to this park need to prepare themselves for a solid drive as the shortest round-trip journey is 70 miles. There are only four entry/exit points to the park and they are spaced out in roughly 35-mile intervals. It begins in Front Royal to the north and ends at Waynesboro to the south (just west of Charlottesville) where it links up with the Blue Ridge Parkway. A Long Drive on Skyline Drive with Many LookoutsĪt its core, Skyline Drive at Shenandoah National Park is a 105-mile road that winds its way through the mountains of Virginia. Free from sickness, sorrow, and sin-even laziness-the saints will glorify the Lord forever. Even in heaven, Christians’ service to God will continue, although no longer encumbered by the curse (Revelation 22:3). To this end I labor, struggling with all his energy, which so powerfully works in me” (Colossians 1:28-29). The apostle Paul is our example: “We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ. It is the Lord Christ you are serving” (Colossians 3:23-24) “God is not unjust he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them” (Hebrews 6:10).Ĭhristians should labor in God’s strength to evangelize and disciple. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers” (Galatians 6:9-10) “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive'” (Acts 20:34-35).Īs Christians, we know that our labors will be rewarded by our Lord if we persevere in diligence: “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. We are convicted of our need to provide for our families through our labors: “If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his immediate family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever” (1 Timothy 5:8) and for others in the family of God: “You yourselves know that these hands of mine have supplied my own needs and the needs of my companions. Our old propensity toward laziness-and all other sin-has been replaced by a desire to live godly lives: “He who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with his own hands, that he may have something to share with those in need” (Ephesians 4:28). In our new nature, we are motivated to diligence and productiveness out of a love for our Savior who redeemed us. The Lord, however, empowers Christians to overcome the flesh’s propensity to laziness by giving us a new nature (2 Corinthians 5:17). Slothfulness violates God’s purpose-good works. Christians are not saved by works, but they do show their faith by their works (James 2:18, 26). “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” (Ephesians 2:10). But a believer can become idle if he erroneously believes God expects no fruit from a transformed life. A new believer is truthfully taught that “…it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-not by works, so that no one can boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9). There is no room for laziness in the life of a Christian. Proverbs also tells us the end in store for the lazy: A lazy person becomes a servant (or debtor): “Diligent hands will rule, but laziness ends in slave labor” (12:24) his future is bleak: “A sluggard does not plow in season so at harvest time he looks but finds nothing” (20:4) he may come to poverty: “The soul of the lazy man desires and has nothing but the soul of the diligent shall be made rich” (13:4 KJV). Proverbs tells us that a lazy person hates work: “The sluggard’s craving will be the death of him, because his hands refuse to work” (21:25) he loves sleep: “As a door turns on its hinges, so a sluggard turns on his bed” (26:14) he gives excuses: “The sluggard says, ‘There is a lion in the road, a fierce lion roaming the streets’” (26:13) he wastes time and energy: “He who is slothful in his work is a brother to him who is a great waster” (18:9 KJV) he believes he is wise, but is a fool: “The sluggard is wiser in his own eyes than seven men who answer discreetly” (26:16). Proverbs is especially filled with wisdom concerning laziness and warnings to the lazy person. The Bible has a great deal to say about laziness. “Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise” (Proverbs 6:6). But the Bible is clear that, because the Lord ordained work for man, laziness is sin. Laziness, a lifestyle for some, is a temptation for all. While some are naturally driven to complete projects, others are apathetic, requiring motivation to overcome inertia. Newton’s first law of motion states that an object in motion tends to remain in motion, and an object at rest tends to remain at rest. |
